You can buy beautiful flowers in Europe and the UK in the supermarkets and from street vendors. You will need cash for the street vendors. |
Magazines can be purchased in Europe and the UK at kiosks; most accept only cash. |
The best way to access cash overseas is with your debit card – they have the best exchange rate. |
Non-U.S. citizens cannot exchange currency at banks. If you are traveling to the U.S.A., it’s best to exchange your currency at the airport. |
When traveling abroad, please be respectful of customs observed in other countries. Dress appropriately, especially in the Middle East. |

Booking your own hotels? You must try Karen Brown’s travel books, available for purchase on amazon.com. She covers a lot of the U.S.A. as well as most of Europe and the UK and finds amazing hotels at all price points. I have used her for Italy, Spain and Portugal and have never been disappointed. Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco are all located in vast numbers around the UK. You can land in most UK airports and be assured that you will be within 30 minutes of one of these supermarkets. Many times I have flown into non-London airports, e.g., Cardiff, Leeds, Blackpool, jumped into a taxi and gone to Marks and Spencer. --- Emma |
Remember that food halls in the UK and across Europe are sometimes located in the basements of department stores. They will deliver to hotels in London with a 24 hour notice. |
Order your ice in kilos in the UK and Europe. 10 kilos = 2 medium sized bags. |
There is no refrigeration in Russia, Dubai or Japan with handlers to store your cold goods. |
Please remember that you cannot bring any food into the U.S.A. It will be thrown away at Customs. |

I purchase essential oils from Whole Foods for my hot towels. Lavender has a calming effect on some people and is great for evening flights. Eucalyptus is a good pick-me-up and can be used on hot or cold towels. --- Camille |
Joe Malone has a wonderful linen spray for hot towels that can be purchased at high end stores in the UK and the U.S.A. |
Emergen C is a great Vitamin C pack sold at Whole Foods in their vitamin section. It’s great for the crew for long flights and is a nice touch for passengers in the A.M. if they have flown all night. Just add powder to water as directed … |
We both are advocates of attending Flight Safety for training. Emma has attended classes in Savannah, Georgia over the years and Camille has attended classes in both Savannah and the Atlanta, Georgia facility. |

When traveling to Europe, bring your Tupperware® from the U.S.A. for catering out of restaurants. They are not accustomed to TAKE OUT FOOD and do not provide containers. (Sometimes it takes a little persuading to get them to cater – a smile and a tip will take you a long way -:) |
When ordering catering in Europe, remember that portion sizes are much smaller than in the U.S.A. You may need to adjust your order according to your specific needs. |
When ordering catering while traveling abroad, order food that is offered in that region. Do not try to get them to reinvent the wheel. |
It is more cost effective to purchase an international calling card to call back to the USA. They can be purchased at kiosks or tobacco stores abroad. |
